LaneWorthy Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
Summary
LaneWorthy keeps your information on your own device. There are no accounts, and we don't run servers that collect what you do in the app. We don't sell or share personal information.
- No accounts. You never sign up or log in.
- Stored on your device. Your progress, practice log and drive routes stay in the app's storage on your phone or tablet.
- Location only while recording. LaneWorthy uses your location only after you tap Start drive, and only while you're recording.
- You decide what leaves your device. Information leaves your device only when you choose to share it, send an email, turn on street-map pictures, or open a link to another service.
- No ads or tracking. The app has no analytics. The website counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
Who we are and what this covers
This policy covers the LaneWorthy app for Android and iPhone, and the website at laneworthy.com. LaneWorthy is published by StoneCove Studios LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company ("we," "us"). You can reach us at support@laneworthy.com.
LaneWorthy teaches the rules of the road and offers drills, a driving game, practice tests and a log of supervised practice drives. It's a practice tool. It isn't affiliated with any state licensing agency.
Information stored on your device
LaneWorthy saves the following in the app's own storage on your device so it can remember your progress. None of it is sent to us.
| Information | Examples | Why it's kept |
|---|---|---|
| Learning progress | Chapters read and passed, quiz and drill scores, missed questions, driving-game stars, XP, notes you write | To show your progress and award certificates |
| Practice drive log | Date, minutes, miles, night minutes, weather, road type, skills practiced, your notes | To track supervised hours toward your state's requirement |
| Drive routes | A simplified outline of each recorded drive (map points with times) | To show the route of a drive you recorded |
| Names you enter | The name on your certificates, supervising drivers' names on quest sign-offs, the nickname you show friends | To print certificates, record who signed off and label your friend code |
| Friends you add | The nicknames and progress numbers in friend codes that friends sent you | To compare progress |
| Settings | Your state, language, text size, hour goals, reminder times, Pass status | To show the right rules and remember your choices |
LaneWorthy doesn't ask for your email, phone number, birthday, photos or contacts.
Location and drive recording
LaneWorthy uses your precise location only to record a practice drive, and only after you tap Start drive.
- When: from Start drive to Stop drive. LaneWorthy doesn't use your location when you're not recording.
- What it's used for: working out the drive's time, miles, the minutes driven after sunset (calculated on your device from your location and the date) and a simple outline of the route.
- What's kept: the totals and a simplified route outline, saved with that drive in your log on your device. Your location is never sent to us.
- Permission: your phone asks before LaneWorthy can use location. You can change or turn it off anytime in your phone's settings. Without it, you can still log drives by hand.
Features that run on your device
- Read-aloud: the Listen button uses your device's built-in text-to-speech voice. LaneWorthy doesn't send the text to us. Your device maker's voice service handles the speech under its own privacy policy.
- Practice reminders: reminders are scheduled on your phone by the operating system. Nothing is sent to us, and you can turn them off in the app or in your phone's notification settings.
- Progress files: "Move or back up progress" saves a file that you choose where to keep.
When information leaves your device
Information leaves your device only in these cases, and only when you start it.
| When | What's sent | Sent to |
|---|---|---|
| You turn on street-map pictures | Requests for map pictures of the area around your drive. Like any web request, these include your device's IP address and the map area shown. | The OpenStreetMap Foundation's map servers, under the OpenStreetMap privacy policy. This is off until you turn it on. |
| You tap "Open in Google Maps" or "Open in Apple Maps" on a drive | The start and end points of that drive, plus up to 8 points along the route (Google Maps only) | Google or Apple, under their privacy policies |
| You share progress, a certificate, a friend code or a progress report | What you chose to share. A friend code holds your nickname, chapters, best mock exam, hours, stars, certificates and streak, never where you drove. A progress file holds your progress, drive log, routes and the names you entered. | Whoever you send it to, through your phone's share menu |
| You send feedback, a school report or a school pricing request | The message you see before sending, plus your email address if you send it by email | Us, through your own email app or share menu |
| You tap a link to an outside website | A normal web visit, such as a state driver handbook or a court decision | That website |
| You buy LaneWorthy Pass | Payment details, handled entirely by the store. We only learn whether the Pass is active on your device. | Google Play or the Apple App Store |
We never see your payment card details. LaneWorthy's fonts, graphics and lessons are built into the app, so it doesn't contact any other website on its own.
When you email us
If you email us, by writing to us directly or through the app's feedback, school report or school pricing screens, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use it only to answer you and to improve LaneWorthy. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace. We keep messages only as long as we need them to help you, and you can ask us to delete them.
Launch notices
Before the app is in the stores, the website's "Email me when it's live" button opens your own email app with a short message to us. If you send it, we keep your email address only to tell you when LaneWorthy is available, and then we delete it. We don't add you to any other list, and we don't use a mailing-list service. Reply "stop" anytime and we'll delete your address right away. If you're under 13, ask a parent to sign up for you.
The laneworthy.com website
The website has no accounts, cookies, ads or tracking. The free practice test runs in your browser and doesn't send your answers anywhere. Our web host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical information such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We don't use that information to identify you.
To see which pages are useful, the website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views, the site that sent you, your country, your type of device and how fast pages load. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't store information on your device, doesn't fingerprint your browser and doesn't follow you to other websites. We only see totals, never individual visitors. The app doesn't use it.
What LaneWorthy doesn't do
- No accounts, sign-ins or user profiles on a server.
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking tools in the app.
- No selling, renting or trading of personal information, and no sharing it for advertising.
- No location tracking when you're not recording a drive.
Because we don't collect personal information through the app, we have none to sell or share under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the Connecticut Data Privacy Act.
Teens, children and parents
LaneWorthy is made for teens preparing for a learner's permit or driver's license, usually ages 14 to 18, and for the parents and supervising drivers who help them. It isn't directed to children under 13, and the app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. If a child under 13 has emailed us, a parent can ask us to delete that message.
Parents can see everything LaneWorthy stores by opening the app on the teen's device. Because the app sends nothing to us, there's nothing for us to review or delete on a parent's behalf. The steps in the next section remove it from the device.
Your choices
- Delete a drive: tap Delete next to it in the Real Road drive log. Its route is deleted with it.
- Delete everything: uninstall LaneWorthy, or clear its storage (Android: Settings, then Apps, then LaneWorthy, then Storage, then Clear storage). This can't be undone unless you saved a progress file.
- Location: allow it only while using the app, or turn it off in your phone's settings. You can still log drives by hand.
- Street-map pictures: leave them off, or turn them off again in the app.
- Backups: keep progress files somewhere private, since they include your drive log and routes.
- Emails: ask us at privacy@laneworthy.com to delete any messages you sent us.
Security and how long data is kept
Your information stays in LaneWorthy's private storage on your device, protected by your device's lock screen and security. Keeping data off servers means there's no LaneWorthy database to be breached.
Data stays on your device until you delete it, clear the app's storage or uninstall LaneWorthy. Files you share are kept by whoever you send them to. Anyone who can unlock your device can open LaneWorthy and see your progress and drive log.
Changes and contact
If LaneWorthy ever starts collecting or sharing information differently, for example by adding accounts or cloud sync, we'll update this policy and its date first, and point out the change in the app before it takes effect.
